TITF 1st International Trombone Competition 2026

The Thailand Trombone Festival 2026 proudly presents its first International Trombone Competition, bringing together talented trombonists from around the world in a dynamic and inspiring festival environment.
 

The competition is fully integrated into the festival and open to both tenor and bass trombone in two categories:
Open Category (no age limit) and Junior Category (up to 21 years old).

Competition Format

The competition consists of three rounds:
 

  • Round 1: Unaccompanied performance of a newly commissioned work

  • Round 2: One work with piano accompaniment (selected from an official repertoire list)

  • Final Round: Major solo work with piano in a public concert setting at the TITF.

Repertoire

The repertoire combines standard works from the trombone literature with a newly commissioned piece written specifically for the competition.
 

A detailed repertoire list will be provided upon application and updated to our website soon.

Jury

The competition will be judged by an international panel of leading artists:
 

  • Martin Schippers (Jury President)

  • Hillary Simms

  • Tomer Maschkowski

  • Carol Jarvis

  • Christopher Bassett

Prizes

The competition offers a total prize fund of 160,000 THB, together with a range of special and sponsored prizes.

  • Open Category

  • Junior Category

  • Outstanding Talent Under 21

  • Best Thai Performer

  • MaSunTo Trombone Cases

Registration

Participation in the competition is linked to festival attendance.

Applicants may choose between:

  • Festival Pass

  • Festival Pass + Competition Participation
     

All competition participants receive full access to festival activities, including concerts, masterclasses, and events.
